New phone and new camera
Ok, some help needed here as I am looking to upgrade my phone and my camera. Actually the camera is more important as I am looking to buy one soonish, the phone can wait till i get back next Feb.
So what I am looking for in a camera? Obviously like all things I own, I am looking for good looks (so that it matches Ellen of course!). It has to be relatively small but most importantly function well. My current Casio is tiny and looks great but probs are:
- the flash is too bright and makes the pictures have a blue-ish tint
- pics are often blurry (could be down to my shaky hand though)
- you can't see anything in the dark, some canons and sony's have an orange light which is cool
- battery life is crap, only a few hours of normal use.
so any recommendations on cameras anyone? i also want a big screen on the back.
I have seen a nice sony which has anti-shake technology but cannot find it online.
ideally i want to buy in Bangkok next week so that I can use it at Holam's wedding, or i may buy in hong kong if that is cheaper.

Fair comments, though by your own advice I wouldn't buy a Sony as then I couldn't use the 512Mb SD card I have right now. I also think that Canon are comparable in terms of quality, but are ahead in terms of aesthetics (looks).
Another point is that mobile phones now catching up now with the point and click digital cameras, check out Sony's new S700i. Is it worth having a seperate camera still?
always get a brand that's business is first and foremost cameras such as canon, pentax etc. Yee
Canon PowerShot SD300
Canon PowerShot SD20
Sony DSC-T1 /T2 / T3
Panasonic DMC-FX7
I like the Panasonic and SD20... they have the same or more features than the sony, lighter in weight, smaller in size, better functionality and a larger range of ISO output... only downside is the lcd screen is smaller, but then again, comparing size to screen ratio, these 2 are better off...
I've just done a bit more research for you. Picture quality, the SD20 lacks quality in conjunction with a flash i.e. you see the flash....and also though it is small...very small that is, it doesn't have zoom.....UK price (£188)
The SD300 a go between SD20 and panasonic..... £215
The panasonic has all the quality and functionality...enough said (£276)
Sony T3 - very thin and large LCD..... not sold in UK or US and new, can only be bought over in asia....but I found a quote costing approx (£323) This is without a doubt bought for style at a costs.....with ave pic quality...though it does have zoom...unlike sd20.
The Sony I have is old: DSC-P9. I hate it cos when u try and shoot, it takes ages to capture, and sometimes won't even let u take a pic. Weird. The battery life is short, it's bulky, indoor fotos can be a bit dull. I do like it cos it's got mpeg and the outdoor fotos are bright and crisp looking. Night club pictures are a bit disappointing. Tends to be too dark and when u use flash it just doesn't have that nightclub feel.
I now use the pretty Pentax Optio S4i. It's much easier to use. Got decent optical zoom for the size that it is. Got a decent sized LCD. Length of video is only limited by size of the memory card which is SD, wayhey! You can adjust the brightness of the shots and see the effect on the LCD before u take the shot. Friends had Fuji and Sony cameras on the LV trip but have to say this one had the best dark / night pictures without the use of a camera stand! It doesnt have the red light to help u see in the dark tho. and i can't put the videos up on to Imagestation which only does mpeg :( And battery life, well half a day i think of taking pics and vids with the lcd on. It's mega cheap and the updated model S5 is out.
As for your blurry pics.... could that be cos ur meant to press gently to focus first before pressing all the way to take the pic?! Try that and maybe u dont need a new camera after all
